You can easily and quickly locate files with a bit of help from Text Finding, a very handy tool offered for free by CodingBest Software. Just enter a query, and Text Finding will search your computer and your network, and will present you with a list of results. The application will help you find TXT, PDF, DOC, HTML, and various other types of files.

Download a small archive (close to 5MB in size in this case), extract the executable inside, run it, and click through the instructions presented to you by a setup wizard – that is what you have to do to get Text Finding up and running on your PC. And if your PC has at least 128MB of RAM memory, 10MB of free disk space, and is powered by Microsoft Windows OS, you will have no problems running the search utility.

At the top of Text Finding interface you will see the following buttons:
File Name – enter a file’s name and the application will quickly locate it.
Content – create an index and perform file content search or perform file content search without creating an index.
Indexer – specify where the application will search for files and what types of files it will index.
Share – share the indexed files with other network users.
File-Get – get files from other computers.
Help – access the online manual, contact the developer, upgrade to the Pro Edition, and more.
Exit – close the application.

Using Text Finding is as simple as using a search engine – all you have to do is type in a query and Text Finding will present you with a list of results. It can find any files (on your computer and on the computers on your network) by text string, file type, file name, file size, and time. Create an index of searchable files and Text Finding will instantly find the files; non-indexed search is also available and it does not take long either.
